Welcome to the Blog for Non Executive Directors

Welcome!

Welcome to the new Blog exclusively for Non Executive Directors.

This is an open forum where Non Executive Directors (NEDs) can comment, share stories, links, value enhancing ideas and learn best practise from each other.

Whether you are young or old, male or female, over time, there will be something of interest to you – or if you know something, share it with the others. It will help us all to become great Non Executive Directors and serve our Boards even better.

Lastly, this is a forum designed to help create roles for each other – it’s not for profit, just a useful tool, so bookmark it now, post anything you want to and come back regularly.

Happy blogging!

Mark Mills, Founder, www.justnonexecs.blogspot.co.uk

P.S. Please send our link to anybody you know who already is or wants to join the mad world of being a Non Executive Director.

  1. I once heard NXD's described as being '...like bidets': the people who want them don't know what they're for or how to use them. NXD's in the quoted arena can sometimes be perceived as the governance police; whereas in the private company world it's much more free-form; so surely the only reason to hire a NXD is if they will make a really significant difference to the business, bringing closer the delivery of the owner's ambitions . . . but where and how to find the really good ones? Unlike bidets they aren't available at the nearest plumbers' trade counter.

  2. Marcus, good point. I find that most companies which employ a Non Executive Director are never again without one. Tells its own story, Mark
